Frequently Asked Questions
What should I expect during my first massage therapy visit?
Your massage therapist will require you to fill out a health history form. Afterwards the therapist will begin by asking you general questions to establish what areas you would like worked on, if there are any conditions needing to be addressed and to determine if massage is appropriate for you. Your massage therapist may perform certain assessments and testing to evaluate your condition, and to see if you have any presenting complaints.
How often should I receive a massage?
For those who use massage as preventative care or to manage daily stress, one massage a month is common. Weekly sessions may be desirable if you are receiving massage for injury relief or to relieve chronic tightness that is interfering with your daily life. There are many people who incorporate massage therapy at least twice a month for optimal therapeutic relief.
What forms of payment do you accept?
We accept Venmo, Zelle, cash, card, Spa Week/ Spa Wellness gift cards or gift certificates purchased directly through Massage By Ally.
A credit or debit card is required to reserve your appointment, however you are not charged for anything until after the appointment is completed. After your appointment, you can choose another form of payment.
The pressure isn't deep enough, but I don't want to complain. What should I do?
You are encouraged to openly communicate with the massage therapist about your preferences and comfort. If anything needs to be adjusted, or if we are almost (but not quite) getting the right spot, just speak up and let us know right away!

However, it is a myth that massage therapy needs to hurt in order to be effective. Some of the most effective techniques involve very light, gentle touch. Often, too much pressure can cause muscles to tighten further, and detract from the effectiveness of your treatment.
Are walk-ins and same day appointments available?
Same day appointments are sometimes available, and we can also put you on our waitlist. However, our massage therapists tend to be fully booked so we recommend booking in advance.
Will I be covered during the session?
You will be properly covered or draped at all times to keep you warm and comfortable. Only the area being worked on will be exposed.
Do you accept insurance?
I do not accept most insurances, although I am partnered with Zeel to accept insurance through the VA's Community Care Network. I am an approved provider through the VA and those appointments need to be booked directly through the Zeel App or by contacting me directly.
